Tim Atkin:

Just one bota, around 800 bottles, was produced from this high altitude Palomino
vineyard grown on red slate soils in Cobrana. Fresh almond, delicate lemon and orange
lead into a surprisingly ample palate, cut through by intense salinity and the vertical
freshness typical of Bierzo’s whites. Ageing under flor brings another layer of complexity
and finesse without overwhelming the fruit. Even more elegant than the previous vintage,
this finishes with punchy, mouthwatering acidity. A delicious and unique wine that
consistently delivers. 2026-29

The Wine Advocate :

The 2023 Roto had a longer élevage, aged for 31 months, and there was only one butt of it—the other one had too much volatility, as the veil of flor and the barrels not topped up is quite dangerous. 2023 was cooler for white wines, yields were low, and the wines have intensity and power but also very good freshness. This was produced with Palomino from slate soils in Cobrana, and it fermented and matured in Sherry casks, with flor, which gives it a spicy and special twist. Flor sharpens the wine and gives it character, and this has a spicy nose with notes of cloves, hay and straw. It displays a bright, almost fluorescent color and has contained ripeness and alcohol and very good freshness. It has a dry, chalky finish. There are only 800 bottles. It was bottled in February 2026. Some years require a longer aging: the 2024 is about to be bottled, and the 2025 has barely started developing the veil of flor. Luis Gutiérrez
